PDX: Pearl Bakery & Adelsheim
We needed a little fuel before heading the Willamette Valley. The pastries were lovely at Pearl Bakery. The barista took care of us, too.
The tour of Adelsheim was great. We talked of viniculture, expansion and rebranding. I think the portrait labels are going. You will see some sparkling from them in the near future, too.
These are new 1 ton fermenters meant to give Adelsheim greater flexibility in winemaking. They can vinify smaller lots more efficiently, which in turn can help blend a better wine. These give greater ease for experimentation, too.
We enjoyed a bottle of their 2009 Willamette Rosé on the back porch before our appointment at Soter. It was a beautiful day. "Look at me; I'm striking a pose!"
