Alamo Drafthouse Ritz Balcony Seating

Photo

Last Sunday, Anne and I booked the balcony seating package at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema at the Ritz. It seemed appropriate to have box seats to view Black Swan, a movie set in the world of ballet. For $35 (reserved online, matinée) you get two tickets and an overstuffed La-Z-Boy loveseat/recliner with dual control; they even throw in a bowl of popcorn and an attentive server to check on you every 15 minutes or so. When we arrived to the theater, we were escorted up the elevator, through the projection room, to our perch. The view of the screen is amazing. The whole setup is absolutely soignée.

When Anne and I walked home after the screening, we could not stop talking about how the experience was beyond what we were expecting. I write this post with apprehension as others might make it difficult for us to book this whenever we want. C’est la vie! It’s a great idea to experience the Alamo-Ritz like this, and great ideas are meant to be shared.

Natalie Portman should grab the Oscar for her performance in Black Swan.
